Trip Highlights
Daily Itinerary
At 12:30 PM, your guide will meet you at your hotel in Cusco to begin the tour. From there, you will head to the Plaza de Armas, where you will admire from the outside Cusco Cathedral and the beautiful colonial architecture surrounding the main square, featuring charming traditional balconies.
You will then continue walking along an ancient Inca-built street to Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun). Here, you will discover the fascinating contrast between Inca stonework and colonial architecture, as this was once the most important spiritual center of the Inca Empire.
Next, you will visit the famous San Pedro Market before taking a 25-minute private transfer outside the city to the impressive Inca site of Sacsayhuamán, known for its massive stone walls built with enormous monoliths. Your guide will explain its history, after which you will have time to explore the site.
From Sacsayhuamán, you will take a short 5-minute drive to the Q’enqo archaeological site, where you will see fascinating ceremonial altars. Afterward, continue to Cristo Blanco, a panoramic viewpoint offering breathtaking views and excellent photo opportunities over the city of Cusco.
Finally, we will return to Cusco, where the tour will end at the main square or at your hotel.
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 8:00 AM. You and your guide will travel by private transport to your first stop, the “Manos de la Comunidad” llama farm. Here, you will see the traditional animals of the Andes: llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and guanacos. Your guide will provide background information, introduce you to native potato varieties, and demonstrate traditional weaving techniques at a local textile center. High-quality alpaca products will also be available for purchase.
Next, we will visit a scenic viewpoint overlooking the Sacred Valley, perfect for photos. We will then continue to the Pisac Inca site, located high on the mountainside above the valley. Your guide will lead you through its most impressive areas and share insights into its history and significance.
Afterward, we will drive along the Vilcanota River through the Sacred Valley for approximately 45 minutes to the town of Urubamba, where we will stop for lunch (not included). Here, you can enjoy a wide selection of fresh dishes served buffet-style.
In the afternoon, we will continue to Ollantaytambo, home to some of the most impressive Inca stonework. You will explore the remarkable Temple of the Sun, as well as other important ceremonial structures. This living Inca town still preserves its original narrow streets and water channels, offering a unique glimpse into the past.
As part of our True Impact Experience, your guide will take you to a local family home, where you’ll connect with the living culture of the Andes.
Learn how families raise guinea pigs, discover the preparation of Chicha—the sacred drink of the Incas—and take part in a genuine cultural exchange.
Through our True Impact Project, we support educational initiatives for local children. Read more.
This is not a performance—it’s a real connection that creates a positive impact.
Without a doubt, one of the most meaningful highlights of your journey.
Non Hikers
We will pick you up from your hotel around 8:00 AM and head to the Inca agricultural laboratory of Moray. This scenic drive takes about one hour. Along the way, you’ll enjoy views of the snow-capped peaks of the Andes, golden wheat fields, and traditional villages.
Upon arrival, you will explore the fascinating terraces of Moray, which feature three amphitheater-like levels built by the Incas. These terraces, carved deep into the earth in a bowl-like shape, are believed to have been used to study optimal conditions for crop cultivation.
After exploring Moray, we will continue to the Maras Salt Mines. This historic site, dating back to pre-Inca times, features over 3,000 salt pools carved into the mountainside, fed daily by a natural spring. This unique landscape offers a different and memorable experience beyond the typical archaeological sites.
Following the visit, we will drive to the town of Ollantaytambo, where you will board the train to Aguas Calientes. The journey takes just under two hours and follows the Urubamba River through the Sacred Valley. Along the way, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of farmland, towering mountains, and the powerful Urubamba River—one of the headwaters of the Amazon.
Hikers: Max Altitude 2,700/ Hiking Distance 12 km
We will walk for about 5 minutes to the train station, where we will board the 6:00 AM train. The journey follows the Urubamba River through the Sacred Valley until we reach Km 104, the starting point of our hike. Along the way, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of farmland, snow-capped mountains, and the powerful Urubamba River—one of the headwaters of the Amazon.
Upon arrival at Km 104, we will prepare for the hike and take a group photo before visiting our first Inca site. After a brief orientation and guided visit, we will begin our ascent, joining a section of the Classic Inca Trail. If the weather is clear, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Machu Picchu Mountain, the Urubamba River, and surrounding archaeological sites.
After approximately three hours of hiking, we will reach the stunning Inca site of Wiñay Wayna (“Forever Young”), located at 2,600 m (8,500 ft). This remarkable complex features impressive terraces, temples, and a sophisticated water system—an excellent opportunity to learn more about Inca engineering and history.
Surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery, we will then continue to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where you’ll enjoy your first panoramic view of Machu Picchu. After taking in this unforgettable moment, we will descend toward the citadel itself.
One of the great advantages of this route is arriving in the afternoon, when most day visitors have already left, allowing for a more peaceful experience. After some time for photos, we will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, where you will check in to your hotel.
Today, you will visit the world-renowned Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and the iconic “Lost City of the Inca.”
Together with your guide, you will confirm the best time to begin your visit according to your entrance ticket.
Most travelers prefer to wake up early, around 5:00 a.m., and walk to the bus station to catch one of the first buses up to Machu Picchu. Arriving at the site when it opens at 6:00 a.m. allows you to experience the magical morning atmosphere, often surrounded by mist as the sun rises over the citadel.
After a 25-minute bus ride, your guide will lead you to the best viewpoints before the main crowds arrive. You will then begin a guided walking tour of approximately 3 hours, exploring the most important and fascinating sectors of this extraordinary Inca citadel, including the Sun Temple, Royal Sector, Intihuatana (Sun Dial), Main Plaza, Temple of the Three Windows, the Working Sector, and the Temple of the Condor, among others.
After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore Machu Picchu at your own pace. If you have secured permits to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, you may continue with that optional adventure.
At around 1:00 p.m., you will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants.
Please be sure to arrive at the train station at least 30 minutes before departure. The return train to Ollantaytambo takes approximately 2 hours, where our private transportation will be waiting to drive you back to your hotel in Cusco (approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes).
